UNICEF Right Respecting Schools Award

We place the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) at the heart of everything we do. At Deer Park School we are very proud of the progress we have already made to becoming a Rights Respecting School since we first opened in September 2021. We are committed to our ethos and practices underpinning the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child (UNCRC)  and have already  achieved our Bronze accreditation.

At Deer Park we ensure that we -

1) Teach and learn about rights through the whole curriculum, assemblies and displays.

2)Teach and learn through rights by modelling rights respecting language and attitudes and making strategic decisions that involve students.

3) Are ambassadors for the rights of others, developing rights respecting citizens.

Student leadership and student voice (linked to Article 12 - the right to express your views) is highly valued at Deer Park and plays a crucial role in driving improvement across the school.  It also provides students with opportunities to grow as leaders, decision makers of the future in order that they are empowered to enter the wider world as active global citizens.
