Year 6 Transition Info

Dear Parent/Carers and Year 6 Students,

Congratulations on being allocated a place here at Deer Park Secondary School. We hope you are as excited about joining us as much as we are in welcoming our 4th ever cohort of students to the new school.

Your Deer Park experience starts now and there will be lots of information regarding the transition process sent to both parents and students. The staff here are incredibly friendly and can't wait to meet you all. There will be a number of key people that will be more involved in the transition process and you will probably see Mr Hastings (Assistant Headteacher) and Mrs Macdonald (Head of Additional Needs) more than others to begin with.

Our Induction Day and Evening will be on Thursday 27th June and we look forward to welcoming the class of 2029 to the school. Parents, you will also have the opportunity to visit the school and meet some of the team as well.

We work incredibly closely with our local primary schools and there is always lots of work going on behind the scenes to help support the transition process such as information sharing, taster sessions and enrichment opportunities.

We do recognise that transition can be a big step for most students. Whilst many things will remain the same there will be some changes; different teachers, new subjects and a bigger school. But don't worry, we are a school that has worked hard to establish a reputation based around kindness and opportunities. You will no doubt have lots of questions so please don't worry, all information will be shared in due course and then posted here on the Year 6 Transition page.

You can get more information by emailing year6transition@deerparksecondary.org or by reading our FAQ's here.

In the meantime, please enjoy your last months at primary school and we look forward to welcoming you to our lovely school.
